Thesis is devoted to solving important economic task - to ground theoretical and methodological approaches and develop practical recommendations for strategy formation of complementary development the metallurgical industry of Ukraine. Results of analysis of existing approaches meaningful basis to the interpretation the category "complementarity" have been given. Methodical tools of assessment the state of Ukraine metallurgical industry have been improved. The scientific approach to the structural analysis of interbranch cooperation flows has been grounded. The scientific and methodological approach of assessment the expedience of complementarity has been given. Conceptual foundation of the strategy of complementary development the metallurgical industry has been offered. The strategy of complementary development the metallurgical industry has been developed. The strategy observes the development of metallurgical industry on the micro-, meso- and macro levels.
