The paper focuses on cognitive-discursive analysis of the concept HUMAN APPEARANCE. The paper aims to analyze the essence and structure of the perceptive concept HUMAN APPEARANCE as well as ways of verbalizing its notional, evaluative and image components. The major scientific methods are definitive, component, etymological, conceptual analyses, discursive analysis, theory of cognitive metaphor, frame modeling. The scientific novelty of the research is determined by defining the concept HUMAN APPEARANCE as a geshtalt; analyzing linguistic ways of evaluating a person's appearance; modeling evaluation scale; identifying metaphorical correlates of cognitive metaphors of the concept HUMAN APPEARANCE. The theoretical significance of the paper is determined by its contribution to cognitive semantics, linguistic axiology, theory of conceptual metaphor and frame modeling. The practical value of the obtained results lies in the possibility to apply them in teaching lexicology of the English language (themes "Lexical semantics", "Synonymy"), general linguistics ("Semantics"), courses in cognitive linguistics, as well as in the process of writing research papers of different levels.
