Essay

In the thesis, the mathematic model and constitutive equations of kinematics and dynamics of discontinuous wave propagation in elastic media with continuous and discontinuous nonhomogeneities of mechanical parameters are elaborated on the basic of the ray method. The questions of transformation of the front-ray net of the wave in the elastic media with parameters varying by the laws of elementary functions or having conditionally layer structure are studied. It is demonstrated that these process can be accompanied by the phenomena of the ray divergence, their curving, deflection from the prescribed zone of the medium, change of the propagation direction, as well as by enlargement or decrease of the wave intensity through its reconstruction and screening. The problems on propagation of weak shock waves in the media with discontinuous function of their mechanical properties are stated and solved. The cases of the wave passing through one interface and parallel or wedgelike layers are studied.
