Pavliuh N. The problem of the reader in European literature and European literature Studies in the Romantic period

The thesis is dedicated to the research of the problem of the reader in the Romantic Era as a period of its formation. The author has analyzed theoretical achievements in the problem of the reader in such national variants as German, French, Ukrainian, Polish and Russian Romanticisms. The author has determined basic ideas of the representatives of the above mentioned era that become sources for literary movements of the 20th century, in particular for philosophical hermeneutics and receptive aesthetics. The research paper features the conception of the literary work and the category of "aesthetic perception" according to H.-G. Gadamer through the prism of the Romantic tradition. It is proved that the works of the German Romantics form the foundation for the modern theory by H.- G. Gadamer. The author of the research has interpreted Romantic literary pieces and has found their dialogic reference to the reader.
