Object: a narrative "Krenford", a novel "Wives and daughters" by E. Gaskell, and narratives "Tsarivna", "A Human-Being", short stories "Valse melancolique", "A Noblewoman", "Ill-Mannered", "Nature", a humouresque "He and She" by O. Kobylyanska. Objective: to depict the peculiarities of gender interpretation of women images and the implementation of the feminist idea in the context of the Ukrainian and British literature on the basis of the typological analysis of E. Gaskell and O. Kobylyanska's literary works. The methods of the research: typological, contextual, contrastive and historical, descriptive, structuralistic, biographical, psychoanalytical. Results, novalty: the typological and contrastive analysis of E. Gaskell and O. Kobylyanka's feminist prose is carried out; the genre and typological peculiarities of the British and Ukrainian writers' "woman prose" are analysed; the individuality of implementation of the "marriage" concept, Mother and House archetype, the peculiarities of the semantic content of the notion "feminity" and "physicality" in the works of Ukrainian and British writers are researched; the similarity and difference between a number of feminist ideas and concepts that built up the starting worldview positions of these writers is revealed; the role of education, philosophical Nietzsche text poetics in the narratives of O. Kobylyanska and the religion constituent in the E. Gaskell's prose when creating the image of a "new woman" is researched. Field of application: the courses of Foreign Literature, the History of English and Ukrainian Literature, the Theory of Literature.
