Essay

The thesis is devoted to study the clinical and functional characteristics of cerebral hemodynamics in children with bronchial asthma and possibilities of its correction on the basis of basic therapy of asthma. The changes of hemodynamics of the brain such as regional vertebrobasilar hypoperfusion, venous outflow disturbance and vasospasm, decreased vasodilatory reserve and autoregulation of cerebral blood flow disturbance were are typical for children with asthma. Risk factors of cerebral hemodynamics changes are uncontrolled clinical course, asthma duration more than 5 years, and male gender. It was also found that the negative impact of respiratory dysfunction and the systemic inflammatory activity on the cerebral hemodynamics and cognitive function of children with asthma. It is proved that the achievement of control over the course of asthma is associated with increase in serum level of vasoactive intestinal peptide and a decreased level of interleukin-5. It is established that basic therapy of asthma contributes to the improvement of venous outflow, reduces the asymmetry of blood flow.
