Methods of research: analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, descriptive, systemic, hermeneutical, imagological, mythological and sociological, comparative and typological, cultural and historical, biographical. Results, novelty: comparative analysis of authors' interpretations of Ovid's personality in the texts of foreign and Ukrainian writers has been done; the expansion of literary sources allowed the researcher to reasonably prove the Roman author's affiliation to traditional figures of historical and legendary origin; the specificity of Ovid's personal myth has been exposed.
