Essay

Dissertation research is devoted to the topical problem of modern infectology - optimization of diagnostics and treatment of serous meningitis in children. With the use of modern methods of laboratory diagnostics (serologic and molecular-genetic) the etiology of serous meningitis in children at the present stage, and the leading role of polymerase chain reaction in establishing the etiological factor have been studied. The clinical diagnosis of serous meningitis prior to admission has been improved, and algorithms for differential diagnosis of serous meningitis in children have been developed on the basis of clinical-anamnestic and laboratory data. The features of the course of serous meningitis in children, depending on the etiological factor have been specified. For the first time the influence of herpesviruses on the course of serous meningitis in children has been studied and their role in the development of protracted course of the disease has been proved, which gave an opportunity to improve causal treatment. Using non-invasive methods of research (echoencephaloscopy and transcranial Doppler) the cerebral hemodynamics in children with serous meningitis has been studied, the starting infusion therapy has been suggested, and criteria for differential attraction of neurometabolic drugs have been established.
