The thesis provides evidence of the existence of the separate type of complex sentences with the elucidative subordinate clauses in modern English. The comprehensive analysis of this type of sentences on lexical-and-grammatical, semantic and communicative-and-pragmatic levels of its expression is suggested. The existence of systemic relations of the structural-and-semantic and communicative-and-pragmatic parameters of this sentence is substantiated.
