Complex investigation of medical article and abstract peculiarities in American scientific journals has been performed. Pragmatic models of information organization in the research, descriptive and review articles are investigated, based on the functional and textual analyses; the issues of textual markedness/unmarkedness of the article and abstract texts are highlighted; the use of the transforming mechanisms is analysed.
