Essay

The thesis focuses on the study of linguocultural concepts PRIDE and NOBILITY in the British language world view which are verbalized in English fiction at the turn of the XIX - XX centuries. The significance of cognitive and linguocultural approaches, including the study of content, structure and dynamics of lingual representation of concepts, allow to consider PRIDE and NOBILITY to be linguocultural concepts in the British language world view, structured by the unity of their conceptual, symbolic-figurative and axiological constituents. The content of the concepts is predetermined by the specificity of British linguoculture; the means of their verbalization reflect ethno-cultural traditions of the English culture representatives at the turn of the XIX - XX centuries.
