Essay

Dissertation investigates the history of xylophone development in Europe considered in terms of the same type idiophones of various nations. There was analyzed the instrument study status. There was justified the autochthonous origin of European xylophone, its basic types studied since Classical antiquity until the beginning of XXI century (one-, two-, three- and four rows systems). There were conditions considered of xylophone application in European musical culture of XIV-beginning of XXІ century.
