Essay

The thesis is devoted to theoretical study of effect of magnetic field and plasma density inhomogeneity on transparency coefficient of a two-layer plasma structure for a p-polarized electromagnetic wave. The case when a surface wave propagates along plasma-plasma interface is considered. The effect of external magnetic field was studied in the case when the wave vector was perpendicular to the external magnetic field (so called Voigt geometry). It was found that normally opaque plasma layer with negative dielectric permittivity can be made absolutely transparent. The effect of inhomogeneous distributions of electron density in the plasma layers on transmission of a p-polarized electromagnetic wave through a two-layer structure was studied. The cases of thin and thick layers were considered. The case of weak inhomogeneity was studied in approximation of geometrical optics.
