Theoretical and practical aspects of the investigation of tortures have been studied in the thesis. The structure of forensic characteristics of the mentioned crime has been elaborated; the ways of its commission have been classified; and typical traces have been distinguished; the categories of persons who commit tortures and those who are victims of these crimes have been defined; the offender and victim's personality has been characterized; the features of tortures' situation have been revealed.
