Kucher I. Structural and Cognitive Modelling the Lexico-Semantic Field of the Verbs of Motion in the Finnish and Ukrainian Languages

This thesis offers a new integrated approach to modelling the lexico-semantic field of verbs of motion in the Finnish and Ukrainian languages from the standpoint of structural and cognitive semantics. The structure and contents of the core and periphery model of lexico-semantic field of intransitive verbs of motion in the Finnish and Ukrainian languages have been determined. The lexico-semantic variants of polysemantic language units belonging to the core of lexico-semantic field of intransitive verbs of motion have been established, and their models have been constructed. The ways of semantic development of intransitive motion verb lexico-semantic field core meanings have been characterized in the studied languages based on the phenomenon of synonymous radiation. The mechanisms of polysemantic intransitive motion verb core lexico-semantic variant structural model transformation into conceptual networks cognitive models have been demonstrated. The conceptual network domains of the polysemantic intransitive motion verb core lexico-semantic variants in the Finnish and Ukrainian languages have been identified.
