Basing on the analysis of the wide spectrum of sources and historiographical works as well as on the usage of the modern theoretical and methodological approaches the author considers the general context of the development of historical science in socialist Bulgaria, the stages and directions of studies on national Revival in the People's Republic of Bulgaria; traces continuities and discontinuities in views of historians of the People's Republic of Bulgaria on Revival comparing with researchers of previous periods, starting from the first attempts of its scientific comprehension in 1830s, characterizes the dominant historiographical images of national Revival in the People's Republic of Bulgaria. From the methodological perspective of Postcolonial Criticism this research defines the features of perception of the period of the Turkish rule in the scholarship of the People's Republic of Bulgaria. In terms of theoretical and methodological attainments of Entangled History the dissertation treats the (re-)construction of the image of the "Turkish yoke" in context of its interaction with foreign and internal policies of the People's Republic of Bulgaria. It finds out the peculiarities of the usage of Revival images as the objects of the politics of memory in public, social and political and artistic discourses of socialist Bulgaria. The author proves the application of the conception of "places of memory" to the analysis of the images of national Revival in historical memory and historiography of the People's Republic of Bulgaria and on the basis of lieux de memoire conception reveals features of their functioning in collective imagination of the Bulgarian society.
