Vasko L. Comprehensive monitoring beam of the chemoradiotherapy of the locally advanced rectal cancer

The results of a comprehensive survey of 85 patients with locally rectal cancer (LRC), which were divided into two groups: Group 1 - 45 patients whom were perform spiral computed tomography (SCT) before and after treatment in complex of diagnostic measures, II group - 40 patients whom were made the SCT examination and transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) before and after treatment. The scientific data was refined on the role of TRUS in detecting changes differentiating layers of the intestinal wall in the area of the tumor after NCRT to determine the possibility of sphincter operations. The combined use of spiral CT and TRUS at LRC after NCRT allowed to objectify the tumor regression both in size and depth of invasion of the intestinal wall, thereby increasing resectability rate and increase sphincter surgery up to 12,7%. The proposed method of assessing the effectiveness NCRT patients with LRC 'by defining the quantitative and qualitative changes in the tumor using radiation diagnostic methods to clearly determine the stage of local spread of tumor in the rectum, and evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.
