Essay

Object: diabetic cataract (DC). Purpose: to improve the efficacy of DC extraction in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) type II and diabetic retinopathy (DR) by selecting the optimal method of phacoemulsification (FEC) based on macula region morphometry and the vision acuity (VA) forecast. Methods: physical; ophthalmic; statistics. For the first time it found that already on the 30th day after the ultrasonic FEC DC in 32,3% of operated patients have slight macular edema (ME), which over 1 year progresses up to clinically significant in 34.1% of patients, MO is absent after jetting FEC. For the first time the forecast model of VA in patients with type II diabetes with DR 1 year after the operation based on initial examination was developed. The results were implemented in 3 ophthalmic medical institutions of Ukraine. Sphere of use - medicine, ophthalmology.
