Essay

The thesis is related to the synthesis and use of azomethynes in combinatorial synthesis. A combinatorial method for the synthesis of azomethynes by reaction of aldehydes and primary amines in the presence of chlorotrimethylsilane is developed. The procedure is convenient and highly efficient for coupling of various (hetero)aromatic aldehydes with (hetero)aromatic and aliphatic amines, including those with low nucleophilicity. The method developed was used as one of the steps in one-pot synthesis of the library of secondary amines and amides derived from them. A variation of the method developed was used for the preparation of tetrahydro- -carbolines and their analogues via Pictet - Spengler reaction.
