Essay

In this work the fact that the course of historical informed performance (HIP) was conceived in XIX century was established on the base of empirical data generalizing (the widespread belief that it was conceived in XX century is corrected). Several phases in HIP formation were detected: preparatory one (I-st half of XIX c.) and two main phases (1850-s – 1870-s; 1880-s – 1900-s). Performing styles of Baroque and Romanticism are characterized as separate unities of specific operation factors reflected in different systems of writing music. Editorial approaches of the Romanticism epoch are investigated at the example of 16 Baroque works edited in 29 reductions of the 2-d half of XIX - the beginning of XX centuries. According to the orientation at romantic or baroque performing styles the following types of reduction of Baroque music are defined: two main ones (adapting and Urtext-orientated) and transitional (with features of the both main styles). The key persons in HIP formation in the 2-d half of XIX - the beginning of XX centuries are defined. The principles of HIP, kept and developed at the stage of its flourishing in XX century, are generalized.
