Essay

This dissertation is dedicated to the idea of German "World Theatre" as a conceptual and artistic phenomenon, that encompasses the properties of the expression and dramaturgy. This work is based on material from operas by B.A. Zimmernann, A. Reimann, J. Widmann and others. German World Theatre constitutes an inherently plausible and, at the same time, paradoxical phenomenon in world culture. The national idea of an "all-embracing entity", as embodiment of eclecticism in the "World Empire" is objectively linked to the history of European and non-European peoples - altogether forming novel phenomena in the cultural and artistic world of the 20th century.
