Kachan K. Neopaganism as a cultural phenomenon

For the first time ever in Ukrainian religious studies based on the descriptive-phenomenological method is an analysis of neo-paganism manifestation in culture and its expression in a ballet. The author discovers the foundation of the myth and ritual in the dance, sacred nature of the dance, and shows the revival of pagan themes in the ballets of XIX-XXI centuries. Author analyzes a set of researches of the neo-paganism in Ukrainian and foreign scientific literature. Taking into account the main methodological approaches, it is used a number of terms refer to pagan and neo-paganism. Author proposes her own definition of the neo-paganism. The manifestations of the neo-paganism in the culture are examined from a cultural perspective. The author determines the ideological sources of the neo-paganism and examines the stages of neo-paganism in the culture in XX - beginning of the XXI centuries. The analysis of the historical circumstances has allowed establishing the main causes of this phenomenon. The article reveals the place of the neo-paganism in the modern socio-cultural process based on historical and philosophical approaches.
