Essay

The thesis is dedicated to a complex study of communicative and syntactic means of granting efficiency to the defensive speech in the American court. A closing argument (or summation) is traditionally understood as the final argument made by the attorney in criminal civil case. The emphasis laid on the closing argument follows from its being the last chance for the defender to persuade the court in the innocence of the defendant.
