Essay

The dissertation is devoted to investigation of clinical-psychopathological and pathopsychological peculiarities of schizophrenia with comorbid other mental and behavioral disorders and to determination of diagnostic and differential diagnostic criteria for this pathology. The main group of the study consisted of 160 patients with schizophrenia and comorbid mental and behavioral disorders; the control group included 35 patients with schizophrenia without comorbid pathologies. Multimorbid variants of psychopathological disorders in schizophrenia are formed most frequently by personality disorders in combination with various variants of addictions, as well as by different addictive disorders combining with each other. It was found out that a substantial role in pathopsychological mechanisms of formation of comorbid mental and behavioral disorders in schizophrenia belonged to personality-typological features, disintegration in the motivation-personality sphere, a level of social frustration, and peculiarities of a coping behavior. The performed clinical-psychopathological, psychometric, and psychodiagnostic investigations resulted in a scientifically grounding and development of the system of diagnosis and differential diagnosis for mental and behavioral disorders which were comorbid with schizophrenia, that enabled to improve diagnosis of this pathology.
