Essay

Object of research is novels by Jack Kerouac. Purpose is to establish peculiarities of mythopoetics of the writer's works and to determine the role of metaphoric expression of space and road as genre-forming attributes in Jack Kerouac's novels. Methods - comparative historical, biographical, mythocritical and integral. Problems of modern Kerouac study using the example of the following novels "On the Road", "The Dharma Bums" and "Doctor Sax" which are not clearly understood and not enough discussed are studied in a consistent manner in this thesis. Social and cultural origins of works by Beatniks and Jack Kerouac are reviewed. Autobiographical elements are researched; traits of meta-genre of the autobiography in the Romance philology of the writer are portrayed. Implementation peculiarities of the metaphoric expressionof the road are recognized, analysis of the space-temporal organization of the novels by Jack Kerouac (chronotope of the road in the novel "On the Road", chronotope of the mountain in the novel "The Dharma Bums", chronotope of the castle in the novel "Doctor Sax",) is conducted, poetic devices of mythosymbolic modeling of the world of novels are highlighted. Mythopoetic analysis of quest monomyth is conducted, its implementation peculiarities are identified, and interpretation peculiaritiesof trickster archetype are studied. It is mentioned that one of the most important elements of poetics in the novels by Jack Kerouac is use of road, traveling as a metaphoric expression of the person's life journey.
