Korneyev S. A revision of the genus Tephritis (Diptera, Tephritidae) of the Western Palaearctics

The thesis is the first comprehensive taxonomical study of the fruit flies of the genus Tephritis on the territory of Western Palaearctics. Based on vast material, species distribution for the studied region is established, 12 new species are described, several names are synonymised. Species diagnoses are clarified, the identification key to species is created. Phylogenetic relationships are analyzed based on morphological and nucleotide sequences of mtDNA (СОІ). Relationships of the fruit flies with the host plants are expanded and clarified. All the species of the genus are shown to have the life cycle with overwintering as imago. The geographical distribution of the species in zoogeographical regions and provinces is analyzed.
