Essay

The basic principles of the lexicographical description of zoonyms are analysed in the thesis. The research is conducted on the basis of great number of definitions selected from dictionaries of the Modern English language. A set of general research and specific linguistic methods are employed in this paper. Further studies may concern the application of the presented methods for the analysis of relevant lexical-semantic groups to improve the lexicographical description of the particular nominal vocabulary and develop uniform principles of the definition construction within close thematic groups.
