In modern linguistic science the analysis of political debate (polemics) in reference to its lexico-semantic, syntactically-stylistic, communicative-pragmatic peculiarities and functional potential remains one of the primary tendencies of linguistic research. The present paper breaks new ground in the integrated study of semantic, structural and functional manifestations of political debate in online discourse. The study of political debate in the presidential election campaign is considered to be of vital importance as it makes possible to analyze the evolution of political thinking as well as to find the ways of civilized political dialogue, which is extremely important for the world community.
