The object: the novels "A Little Bit of Darkness" by L. Deresh, "Life Safety" by S. Ushkalov, "Crazy" by B. Lebert, "Chik" by W. Herrndorf, "The Boundaries of the First Level" by E. Alekhine. The objective: to reveal the artistic specifics of the modern youth novel on the example of the works of L. Deresh, S. Ushkalov, B. Lebert, W. Herrndorf, E. Alekhine in the context of contemporary comparative literature and literary theory. The methods of study: dialectical, comparative, analytical, of synthesis, of abstraction, inductive and deductive, comparative and typological, biographical, cultural and historical, receptive, anthropological, hermeneutic. The results and newness: the genre features were classified and the concept of modern youth novel was formulated; the literary criticism of the prose of L. Deresh, S. Ushkalov, B. Lebert, W. Herrndorf, E. Alekhine was analyzed and systematized and also their places in modern literary process were defined; the originality of artistic representation of marginality, moral and spiritual development of the characters and their psychological images were examined; the comparative analysis of time and space organization of the novels "A Little Bit of Darkness" by L. Deresh, "Life Safety" by S. Ushkalov, "Crazy" by B. Lebert, "Chik" by W. Herrndorf, "The Boundaries of the First Level" by E. Alekhine was made; the linguistic picture of the works through the prism of normative lexicon was defined. Field of use: the future studies of the mass and postmodern literature texts of the beginning of the XXIth century, modern theoretical, historical and comparative literary studies.
