Rybakova O. Gender specifics of the communicative strategy of disagreement in English non-official communication

The paper focuses on the discursive strategy of disagreement embodied by verbal and non-verbal means in the English everyday discourse modeled in English-language movies. The methodological basis of the research is the interactional model of communication that is relatable with the activity-style of thinking, in which communication is treated as a contextual verbal and cogitative interactive activities, whose purpose is mutual orientation in the live space by enduing the linguistic form with the semiotic significance. The scientific novelty of the research is determined by the first analysis of disagreement in terms of the communication strategy using the conceptual construct and methodological tools of cognitive-communicative linguistics. The new in the research is analyzing the interactive act of disagreement as the unit of the communicative strategies’ analysis, taking into account both the lingual and extra-lingual (perceptive and psychological) contexts. The theoretical significance of the paper is determined by its contribution to the theory of communication, theory of speech effect, the theory of argumentation and gender linguistics. The practical value of the obtained results lies in the possibility to apply them in teaching style courses ("Stylistic syntax"), modern English grammar ("Sentence"), general linguistics ("Language and thought", "Semantics"), special courses in the theory of language communication, cognitive linguistics, gender linguistics, speech influence theory, argumentation theory.
