Essay

The thesis suggests a new integrated approach to the establishing of typology of nominative sentences in the English, French and Ukrainian languages. The propositional meaning represented by nominative sentence was reconstructed. It was found out that on the cognitive level nominative sentences are modelled as mental schemes, which are represented as syntactic concepts. Nominative sentences were classified into four structural types and seven varieties. Semantic schemes, which are realised by nominative sentences, were constructed in the studied languages. Four pragmatic types of nominative sentences were distinguished: representative, directive, expressive and interrogative. The peculiarities of their functioning in speech were revealed.
