Mykhailov A. Clinical and laboratory reasoning and evaluation of oral hygiene measures efficiency in patients who use fixed dentures.

The dissertation is devoted to the problem of the impact of structural peculiarities (pontic design), quality of dental bridges and proposed algorithms of hygienic procedures on the status of oral hygiene. A clinical and laboratory examination of 120 patients aged from 30 to 59 years with various types of dental bridges constructions used during different terms was carried out. Index evaluation of oral hygiene, quality of dental bridge constructions estimation and microbiological examination were performed. Based on clinical studies, index evaluation and microbiological examination the dependence of the oral cavity hygienic status on the quality of constructive materials and pontic design peculiarities of bridge dentures was revealed. For the first time the quantitative microbial contamination was compared in dental bridges with different pontic designs using the proposed method of plaque sampling. It was established that the highest microbial contamination have bridge dentures with "hygienic" pontics. The expediency of using embedded ovoid and saddle-shaped pontics of dental bridges was substantiated. Algorithms of oral hygiene based on the quality and design of fixed dentures have been developed. Improvement in the hygienic index evaluation and microbial contamination level and consequently extension of the fixed dentures exploitation in case of developed hygienic algorithms hygiene use were proved.
