Essay

The thesis presents the Ukrainian rock-opera in a global context. The main topics of thesis are devoted to the determination of genre, the different fields of its development and the specific of composition by national composers, their personal characteristics. There are considered the history of European and Ukrainian rock-opera, designated general and variant features, extrapolated the ideas of foreign scientific works to the Ukrainian music culture. On the basis of analyze of some important national rock-operas such as “Eneida” and “Yaroslav the Wise” by S. Bedusenko, “Parfumer” by I. Demarin, “Girl and Death” by E. Lapeiko, “Herod” by I. Poklad, “White crow” and “Mr. Skovoroda” by G. Tatarchenko and others professional and amateur compositions 3 types of development are allocated: neofolkly, all-european and combined. This classification and collected factual and analytical materials have the considerable scientific originality because the thesis is the 1st work concerning Ukrainian rock-opera.
