The dissertation is one of the first special comprehensive studies of house arrest in the system of preventive measures in the context of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine of 2012. The legal and historical preconditions of formation of the sub-institute of house arrest in the system of preventive measures were examined. The concept, nature, importance and the aim of house arrest under modem conditions were defined. The place of house arrest in the system of preventive measures was characterized. Various aspects of grounds and conditions of selection of house arrest in criminal proceedings were researched. The procedural order of selection and application of house arrest was characterized. The procedural order of modification and cancellation of house arrest was examined. Scientifically substantiated proposals concerning improvement of the criminal procedural legislation of Ukraine regarding regulation of various aspects of house arrest were formulated.
