This thesis focuses on the study of speech interruption in Мodern English dialogical discourse. The paper elaborates the definition of interruption as a lingual phenomenon and a strategic process; it also offers its linguistic definition. The dissertation provides the study of speech interruptions in the English dialogical discourse and classifies them on the basis of their communicative and pragmatic characteristics. The thesis introduces a dynamic model of interruptions and reveals cognitive basis of speech interruptions. The paper outlines gender-related strategies and tactics of speech interruptions.
