Essay

An in-depth computational analysis of the stress state and stress intensity factors (SIF) of the header-to-PGV-1000 steam generator connector weldment with postulated defects embedded into the computational model considering the elastoplastic behavior of the material and history of thermomechanical loading has been performed based on finite elements method in the three-dimensional statement. The calculated values of SIF for the header-to-steam generator connector weldment have been obtained in the modeling of irregular defect in the form of the extended cavity with the crack at its tip.
