The thesis is devoted to comparing the effectiveness of traditional (parenteral) and step-down antibiotic treatment regimen in patients with non-severe community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and congestive heart failure (CHF). We observed 139 patients aged 48-73 years. Step-down antibiotic therapy in patients with non-severe CAP and CHF was equally efficient as traditional parenteral antibiotic treatment mode throughout the course of antibiotic therapy, and positive treatment outcome (cure + improvement) in terms of 12±2 days from the start of antibiotic reached 97.3%. Reduction of breathlessness during monitoring and reduction of the proportion of patients with complaints of cough in earlier periods (after 7±1 days of treatment) were documented in patients with co-morbidities on step-down therapy as compared with patients on traditional antibiotic therapy.
