Dissertation aims at the definition of the major stylistic directives of Lev Venediktov's creative work specified by his individual creative method. The paper considers stylistic features of choir performance, which have their own distinctive features in every historical period of their development and someway influenced the formation of L. Venediktov's style phenomenon. Analysis of the choirmaster's performance style is committed by means of historical retrospective of choir performing tradition. The quotes of the Master, obtained in the process of communication with him and adduced in the subsection, become a source of understanding of L. Venediktov's methodological directives.
