Kuzmina I. Ukrainian branch of Steinheil family: prominent figures. Historical and prosopography investigation.

Based on wide range of sources gathered in Ukrainian archives as well as analysis of historiographical works, the thesis shed the light on life and activity of prominent figures of Ukrainian branch of Steinheil family. After careful analysis of great bulk of sources, the author restores the life and activity of Maksym Vasylovych Steinheil. The major attention paid to the most famous figure of the family - Fedor Rudolfovych Steinheil. His role in development of museums, archeology, entomology, meteorology as well as his charity activity that spread beyond the Volyn borders was explored. Based on available sources, the author restored the public and political life of F. Steinheil since 1906 till 1918. It was shown his role in the activity of Cadet party as well as his work at the position of ambassador extraordinary at first State Duma and plenipotentiary of minister of Ukrainian State in Germany. The author discovered baron's role in the activity of South-Western Front Committee of All-Russian union of towns.
