Skyrda I. The ХІІ Archaeological Congress: preconditions, a course of events, the historical value

Research object are processes of scientific communication and forming of scientific community of researchers of Ukrainian ancient artefacts in the early 20th century, primarily influenced by Archaeological Congresses. The purpose of the thesis is studying of the 12th AC as the form of scientific communication that contributed to processes of disciplinization and institutialization of archeology and other historical disciplines in the early 20th century, finding out its scientific and social value. Used methods are historical-comparative, diachronical, "case-studies". Complete picture of preparation and holding of Archaeological Congress in Kharkiv was reconstructed; published and archival sources on the history of the 12th AC were revealed and comprehensively examined; archival sources that enabled full consideration history of Archaeological Congress in Kharkiv were entered into scientific circulation; degree of development topics in historical literature was spot, discussion and perspective problems were scheduled; process of organization and preparation and main trends of working of the 12th AC were described; forming of professional "intellectual community" in process of organization and conduct of the 12th AC; channels, means and forms of scientific communication as system of social interactions that directed to search, accumulation and dissemination of archaeological and historical knowledges were explored; impact of Archaeological Congress in Kharkiv to process of institutialization of archaeology, disciplinization of historical science were investigated; social value of the 12th AC; channels in the context of the processes of formation of national identity was defined.
