The thesis is dedicated to researching of Vocal and choral works Goffredo Pet-rassi 1930th - the beginning of 1940th in the context of Italian music of the first half of the twentieth century. The original choral compositions have become a kind culmination of the period of renaissance choral genres in Italian art, stressed the importance of the processes taking place in the Italian music aimed at the restoration of the past, the revival of ar-tistic heritage and artistic ideals of old masters. Vocal and choral works of G. Petrassi are represented as a complex phenomenon in which through the unique ideology of the modernity artist manifest cultural intentions of those years in the thesis. Com-poser's religiosity directed his work to humanistic ethical Christian values, classical aesthetic ideals of Renaissance, Baroque art. Transcendental symbolism of the biblical words rethought in expressive-dramatic style of the twentieth century master in "Psalm 9". In the "Magnificat" superhuman divinity of the Virgin Mary image is a symbol of the future salvation of mankind. Through the humanism Renaissance art revived the ideal of beauty in the bloody days of fascism in "The choir of dead".
