Essay

The Ph.D. thesis is devoted to the studies of the electronic structure of local centers and nanoscale phases forming in non-stoichiometric crystals of cadmium iodide. For СdI2-Сd crystals it is established that there exist the boundary concentration of over-stoichiometric cadmium atoms, which changes optical-luminescent properties of the crystals and morphology of the nanostructures being formed in these crystals. Diffusion model of the growth kinetics of surface nanoclusters is suggested. Surface plasmon resonance bands were detected in photosensitive Ме-СdI2 systems and model describing the sensitivity of these structures to the band-to-band irradiation was proposed and its parameters were calculated.
