Essay

Object: novel by I. Karpa "Bitches get everything" (2006) and anovel "The Devil Wears "Prada? "(2003)by L. Weisberger". The goal: of comparative perspective to explore artistic expression of philosophical, genre, structure, speech style implementations of opposition "self /other? in the text samples of Ukrainian and American massliterature (based onthe novels"Bitches get everything" byI. Karpa and"The Devil Wears"Prada?" by L. Weisberger). Methods: comparative-historical, comparative-typological, structural, semiotic, receptive. Results,originality: for the first time in Ukrainian literary on a formal-semantic level made typological methods of implementation onopposition of novels by I. Karpa and L. Weisberger: based on a systematic comparative analysis, modalitiesonthe typological features of opposition "self / other"was meaningful comparative aspects of the author's subjectivity and identity, analyzed signs and symbols of culture of the city. Uses: on courses of modern Ukrainian and foreign literature, special courses and special seminars on massliturature genres' issues.
