Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the solution of the relevant problem of open pit mining efficiency improvement on the basis of integrated assessment of the mining operations mode and open pit ore productivity considering their interrelation. In the course of the research it has been defined that the mining operations mode characterised by current stripping ratios and ore productivity are technologically interrelated: increasing productivity results in increased current stripping ratios; increased current stripping ratios enable increased open pit productivity. Failure to comply with the discovered patterns leads to stripping schedule delay from the required for normal pit operation. New analytical method to defining stripping lag at any moment of the open pit operation for any given point of time has been suggested. The method allows working out annual schedules or checking their compliance with current standards. The decision area for mining operations mode has been proved to be defined considering not only potential dynamics of stripping volumes, but also taking into account potential ore productivity of the pit. Technological and economic index of comprehensive evaluation of mining mode efficiency and open pit ore productivity has been justified: the difference between annual volumes of marketable ore and rock mass volumes converted to ore in terms of its price. The new methodology for defining maximum open pit productivity applying the specified mining mode has been developed. The methodology is distinct in precise compliance with the preset mine development sequence. The maximum ore output at minimum current stripping ratios can be achieved only in case of stripping ratios being equal in all operating areas of an open pit. Industry - Mining (technical sciences).
