Essay

This research focuses on the participation of carbon-nitrogen balance in regulation of the leaf photosynthetic apparatus longevity in modern high-yielding varieties of winter wheat. The ontogenetic changes in structural and functional parameters of photosynthetic apparatus of plants of winter wheat at the reproductive period of development were studied. It is found that the increase in concentration of sugars in the flag leaf induces final leaf aging process depending on the nitrogen content. It is shown that increasing concentrations of soluble carbohydrates as a result of blocking the outflow of assimilates from the leaf induces the senescence process - reduction of photosynthetic activity and destruction of the photosynthetic apparatus, which develop faster lower nitrogen supply.
