Zhyvaho K. Medico-social rehabilitation of the paranoid schizophrenia pathients with depressive symptoms

The dissertation is devoted to the important topic of modern psychiatry - the depressive symptoms in paranoid schizophrenia. Based on a complex examination and by evaluating prognostic significance of the factors of determined predisposition to the development of depressive symptoms in schizophrenia patients. Social functioning of the patients was studied and reduction of it was showed in such areas (p <0,05): socially-effective activities, relationships with family and self-service, and the characteristics of the circle of communication, physical capacity and activity in every day life. It revealed low level of quality of life of these patients (p <0,0001). A set of measures of medical and social rehabilitation of paranoid schizophrenia patients with depressive symptoms were sugested based on the results of the study. Its application has allowed to reduce the level of depression, the patients were able to not only form their goals for the future, but also have ability to achieve them, which is reflected in the improvement of social functioning and quality of life.
