Essay

Object of study: pharmacological correction of inflammatory periodontal diseases (IPD), hop products: alcohol extract, carbon dioxide extract and essential oil of hops; new gel compositions based on hop products. Aim: microbiological substantiation of the perspective of using hops in the development of new gel compositions for increasing the effectiveness of prevention and treatment of inflammatory periodontal diseases. A preparation in the form of a gel based on carbon dioxide hop extract (CDHE) and ancillary substances with a quantitative composition was first developed (wt%): CDHE 0.5, propylene glycol 10.0, polyethylene oxide 400 5.0, carbomer 0.7, sodium hydroxide 0.08, water to 100. The high antibacterial and fungicidal effect of a new gel composition against various types of IPD pathogens has been proved. The slow formation of resistance in clinical strains of IPD pathogens (S. mutans, Acinetobacter sp., аnd C. albicans) to the action of CDHE, which is the main antimicrobial component of the developed gel, is established. It is determined that the new gel composition with 0.5% CDHE for organoleptic, physical and physicochemical properties fully complies with the requirements of the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine and is stable for a period of 18 months. Degree of implementation: 2 Ukraine patent for utility model, 1 guidelines, 1 information letter, 3 act implementation. Scope (area) of application: medicine (microbiology, stomatology).
