Essay

The present thesis is dedicated to the art of balalaika playing as integral part of the academic art of folk instrumental performance. While writing this thesis I have defined the ways of the balalaika playing historical development in Charkivshchina and suggested a corresponding period classification. I characterized the role of iconic musicians M T. Lysenko, M. M. Tkachоv, V. O. Zabolotnyi in the overall process of this musical instrument playing acquiring a certain academic meaning. I generalized historical experience of balalaika playing in Slobozhanshchina in terms of genre and style dynamics of composition practices in 20-21th centuries. I defined complex of texture and register, timbre and phonic performance techniques.
