The study focuses on the research into phonetic and phonological features of occlusive plosives /b, d, g - p, t, k/ at the beginning (Anlaut) and at the end (Auslaut) of German words throughout different periods of the Germanic language evolution: Old High German, Middle High German and New High German. Such comprehensive approach to studying occlusive plosives in different parts of German word has revealed the tendencies of their phonetic and phonological development.
