Kharenko O. Legal regulation of information activity of the print media

The thesis is dedicated to the comprehensive analysis of information activity of the print media. It deals with the nature of the print media as the subjects of information legal relations. It covers information and legal status of the print media and legal status of subjects of their information activity, including journalists. It was established that the subjects of print media activity, depending on the powers, rights and duties, have purely information or information related functions: information and organization, information and production, information and auxiliary and constituent functions. Based on the correlation analysis of powers of public administration subjects in the area of print media information activity ways to optimize state administration in this area were suggested. The thesis determines the concept of and discloses legal principles of self-regulation of print media, suggests classification of their self-regulation bodies: international, national and local. Ways of improving legal regulation of information activity of the print media were determined and a number of amendments and additions to legislation was suggested.
